C was the resource person for the school chool Those attending the school W were were- re Involved In t 1 the various discussions and activities Each Eachon on one had an assignment to prepare prepare pre pre- pare before a attending this school They were to evaluate the citizenship situation In their area This was used as basis for small discussion groups Each one had the opportunity to learn of the Situation in other areas area FROM THIS point the leadem leaders lead lead- ers era learned to define citizenship and realize that it includes many areas such as social socia political economic etc They then began to see the numerous opportunities for teaching citizenship WORKSHOPS were also conducted conducted con con- ducted on teaching citizenship to various age groups Throughout Through Through- out the conference the group heard of activities being carried carried car car- ried on by various counties Miss Thomas and Miss Garrison Garrison Garri Garri- son reported on the Uintah County Youth Development Program Program Pro Pro- Program gram that has been so success success- ful NUMEROUS questions were asked about lt the the program Many of the leaders were anxious anxious' to start a similar p program in their area One of the highlights of the conference was the field trips The leaders toured various businesses businesses bus bus- and agencies to see see opportunities op opportunities op for citizenship The leaders also gained hand first experience in conducting conducting con con- ducting a a field trip ONE EVENING was devoted to the Latin American Fiesta The leaders enjoyed recreation tion and a slide presentation They also gained some helpful hints on conducting an International International Inter Inter- national Night program m. m In another workshop during the le week the leaders had practice tice In finding and using resource resource re reo source people One of the things the leaders learned was that lat almost everybody can be a are re resource resource re- re source person THE LEADERS who attend attended attend ed the conference were interested interested inter inter- ested In the things thing they learned and were anxious to put some of these ideas into use in their clubs and community The Uintah County 4 H clubs will be emphasizing citizenship throughout the year They are anxious to develop better citizenship citizen ship to live In our communities |
