Show t r t 1 w r y UINTAH SCHOOL District Board Members were presented a check by a delegation from the Saturday Satellites They are left to right Bill Murray Mathew Foley Ken Anderton Mr and Mrs AI Al Marge Maxfield Fred Brown Brawn and Superintendent Wayne Reid Workshop for fog handicapped 4 J seeks funds for building Funds are being sought from every available source to finance a new building for Dina Enterprises The workshop presently located in a red metal building east of Roosevelt on Highway 40 employs twenty handicapped persons from Duchesne Duchene and Uintah Counties Because of high rent and inadequate te space the workshop is planning a new building to be built on the site of oC the new vocational complex near Roosevelt Agencies throughout the Basin are being contacted for assistance and fund raising projects will soon be conducted for the purpose of raising funds DINA Enterprises was organized as a result of the efforts of concerned parents and citizens of the Uintah Basin It officially opened its doors on January 12 1976 with a astaff astaff staff of five and an enrollment of eleven which has increased to twenty Each day two mini mini- Ini- Ini buses bring the students students' from their homes in the counties to the he program Here they work on various projects for the public and sub-contracts sub for Cor businesses They have produced almost drawers for Ute Fab who then installs them in cabinets of their own making and ships them to all over the United States The students have also cut and bundled bundles of wood which are sold to tourists c camping at Dinosaur National Monument They have also produced various public and private contracts ranging from large cabinets to small wooden toys and jewelry boxes The workshop governed is-governed by bya a bo board rd consisting of school board members from Duchesne Uintah and Daggett counties The Board also governs the Uintah Basin Area Vocational Center The workshop also has an active advisory board consisting of parents concerned and agency people who serve the handicapped DIRECTOR of the workshop is Les Bennett with foreman Don Grimaud Assistant foreman is Pat Roberts and aids are Lola Coleman and Flora Rogers Mr Bennett states Until recently the needs and rights of oC handicapped have been neglected but now legislation has begun to come forth wl which ch chis is starting to pro provide ide for these people If you desire to help you youcan youcan youcan can get information by calling the workshop at If you are interested in having the students make a project we will gladly take your order con continued Bennett The program has made a great deal of progress in the time that it has been operating and plans to become more and more effective in serving the handicapped of the Uintah Basin he concluded |
