Show Uinta Audubon takes fi first winter trek The Flaming Gorge Dam Little Hole dole Trail was the site Saturday of the Uinta Audubon Society's first field trip of 1974 Members and guests of the Society observed wildlife and scenery along the four mile trip In the river canyon stopping for lunch a along long the way IN ITS first year In the Uintah Basin the Audubon Society has enrolled approximately 50 members The major goal of the group Is to provide opportunities for area residents to become better acquainted with the spectacular natural history of Northeastern Utah officials noted Through Increased increased In in- creased awareness it Is hoped that people will develop greater concern for all natural resources Regular meetings scheduled for the first Thursday of each month provide interesting and informative programs Februarys February's meeting will feature a program on local clays Local potters have resurrected a practical art the Indians have known about for generations Members of the Uinta Potters' Potters Guild have found that stoneware clays and clays used for glazing are found inthis in inthis inthis this area Details of the February meeting will be found in a later edition of the Vernal Express ALSO PLANNED for this coming year are a variety of outings Next months month's will be a aski aski aski ski touring snowshoe trek in the historic and wildlife rich Greendale area The Society is planning a nature photography contest in April The Uinta Audubon Society is of course Interested in new members However the public is welcome to attend all its activities |
