C Dickerson Conservation Officer west Vernal District Division of Wildlife Resources conservation officers of of- fivers have completed their annual statewide inspections of deer winter ranges In this area range rides were conducted in Blue Mountain Island Park Diamond Mountain Brush Creek Mountain Little Mountain Lake Mountain Mosby Mountain and also on numerous areas of Duchesne County THE TIlE RANGE ride is but one part of the total deer management program and provides an opportunity to tomake tomake tomake make general observations regarding deer winter range It Itis Itis Itis is the first step prior to more detailed studies to determine deer use in key areas Observations are recorded and reported to the Interagency Committee who reports all findings around the state to the Board of Big Game Control This data is the cornerstone of recommendations made to the board regarding each years year's hunting seasons OFFICERS NOTE general range conditions problem areas and general health of deer Another important aspect of the rides is the opportunity they provide for the public to gain a firsthand look at the habitat The public is urged to participate and discuss habitat and game management principles with Division of of- ricers Deer winter ranges this year look better compared with last year or and-or the long term trend This area is generally improving Deer health appears to be very tood toed following a mild winter We found no evidence of winter losses WINTER RANGES in this area are of prime importance and are usually limiting factor in regard to deer population The best J possibility for or an 1 in- in I S.
