With less leM than two weeks remaining In the Fortieth Session much of ot the final action on measures still remains to be done Some very critical bills are arc not being considered in both boUt the House and the Senate IN THE Senate the job of ot determining ing which bills arc are place upon the calendar calendar cal cal- has been turned over to the sifting sift silt Ing committee We believe that the sift sift- ting committees committee's role is a very dominant dominant dom dome factor in what legislation will be voted upon The appropriations subcommittees sub arc are concluding their sessions They will be compiling the appropriation recommendation recommendation dation elation for consideration in the coming days MANY BILLS dealing with rural areas have been considered A number of ot state land measures sponsored by Senator Clyde have passed both Houses and will willbe willbe be sent to the Governor for tor his signa ture tore Senate Bill which provides for tor foran foran toran an 8 B million dollar purchase of acres of or land passed the senate In a 20 to 9 vote Friday The land is located located lo 10 lo- lo in the northern portion of the State in Rich Morgan and Summit Coun Coun- ties tics The measure acquired some determined determined deter deter- mined opposition in the Senate and is expected to run into some in the House also Education bills are arc finding their way to the calendar now Many of or them will have definite effect upon our school districts We have been in continual contact con tact with our school superintendents concerning concerning con con- these bills These contacts have been very valuable In our effort to protect pro teet our districts We feel the coming days will be very trying regarding these measures A BILL on wildlife code amendments is being sponsored cosponsored by Representative Elison Stephens This bill amends the wildlife resources code Numerous other bills have been acted upon Senate Bill BUl 5 dealing with the annexation of city and towns was passed by the Senate A bill concerning intoxIcated intoxicated drivers was also passed This bill toughens the existing law WITH THE final days of the session upon us we sincerely urge all interested citizens to attend our weekly meeting in the capitol It is in Room at 1230 The meetings are proving to be bevery bevery bevery very helpful in dealing with the concerns concerns con con- cerns of our districts We appreciate very much the help we have been receiving receiving re reo re- re from those in attendance |
