S Aug Smith was was was' volunteered but it was found that tl this a would be be too small The Vernal Cent Central School was then proposed and steps were taken to furnish and equip the school building But Sunday afternoon the school building was abandoned in favor tavor of the St. St Pauls Paul's Lodge which was found to be far tar more practical in as as' much muchas as it was already furnished and had a fine arrange arrangement ent of rooms f for r the purpose A telegram was sent to Dean Fleetwood of ci St St. Marks Mark's Cathedral In Salt Lake and a telegram was received stating g that full lull permission was granted for lor the tiie Use of cf the The benevolence and the generosity of the church people is Indeed commendable and show a patriotic spirit ALL BEDDING was removed from the beds leaving only the Patients are required so far as possible to furnish their own bedding In rooms where there is more than one bed they are placed at opposite ends of the room The hospital had no sooner opened ened than two patients A A. A L L. and Reuben McConkle Mc- Mc Conkie Conkle were brought in Several days ago Mr McCo McConkie McConkle kle who is treasurer treasurer elect elect for lor Uintah County volunteered to nurse Mr and then took the disease himself Both were without help and at the mercy of cf kind neighbors and friends Principal Chas Lewis volunteered to nurse the men until they were taken to the hospital I Tuesday the hospital received Robert Witmer Mr and Mrs Forest Weeks and Earl Freeman Wednesday Sam Rolph and Mrs Mary Barnett were the new patients Jessie Hanline was brought in from one of the sheep camps campi by Horace Coltharp suffering with the flu and is one of cf the inmates THE HOSPITAL is tuning smoothly but is lacking help and unless help soon responds s a serious condition will develop Mrs Mary Barnett was head nurse with Mrs S. S Aug Smith assistant and Miss Edith Johnson and Miss Stella Richards nurses With Mrs Barnett taken ill the burden bunten of cf the work is upon Mrs Smith Relief has been offered by Supt Earl Thompson and C C. C W W. S August Smith who had been there twenty four hours without relief Miss is doing valiant work at t the home of the Potter family and is being relieved by Miss Edith Johnson Mrs Eunice Jorgenson Naylor is at atthe atthe atthe the home of Mike Cook where seven members of the family are ill III with th the disease and Mrs Margaret Bartlett has also assisted at this place She has a slight attack however of Influenza influenza influenza in- in Chas Lewis also has a slight attack of the flu Miss Claire is at at the home of Mrs Jas Fowlks MR SMITH says there is urgent need for automobiles to take nurses back and forth So far Wm M M. Anderson Lou Colton and Mayor S. S D. D Colton have volunteered their services and cars are doing an excellent work Mr Smiths Smith's care is being used for this purpose as well asin as asin asin in the executive duties pertaining to to the hospital With more help the emergency hospital is assured of a successful career and is a splendid move Every effort should be given to aid it |
