A Wednesday of la last t week at a noon luncheon at the Sage Restaurant PRESENT WERE regular board members mem memo bers bersi Marll Marilyn n Thacker Pat Nicholls Maxine Gentry Cheree Dickey Kenneth G G. G Anderton and Cheryl Cherl Pickett Also present were Eddie Burghardt and Rosalie Ros Ros- Rosalie alie aile Sorensen Special guest was John Riddle State Representative from Salt Lake City The treasurers treasurer's report was given iven b by Kenneth Knneth G G. G Anderton The Walk Walk Walk-a-thon a thon netted while the Mothers Mother's March netted and was wa disbursed as follows to National Scientific Research Fund to the National Foundation for educational programs and 2000 to the Birth Defects Center In Salt Lake City The year ear brought one of ot the largest donations Uintah County has has' ever made to the Birth Defect Center Cen Cen- ter It was vas moved and seconded that the treasurers treasurer's report be accepted and passed pass ed cd unanimously IT WAS at this time that Kenneth G G. G Anderton presented his resignation to the board as Treasurer Larry Brady was nominated to replace Mr Anderton Anderton Anderton Ander Ander- ton and it was moved seconded and passed unanimously that Mr Brady replace replace re place Mr Anderton as C Chapter apter Treasurer Treas Treas- Cheree Dickey was nominated for Vice President and it was moved seconded seconded se se- se and passed unanimously that she be accepted It was then presented to the board that Kenneth Anderton be accepted as nominating chairman It was moved seconded and passed unanimously MR RIDDLE expressed to the board what an excellent job had been done to raise the money for the chapter According According Ac Ac- cording to Mr Riddle Uintah County ranks among the top in the State of Utah for fund raising compared on a aper aper aper per capita basis The average cost for fund raising nationwide is approximately 12 percent while Uintah County had a percent for expenditures for the regional meeting meeting meet meet- ing in Phoenix Arizona in October were discussed b but t no firm plans plans' were made It n was tabled until the next meeting THE YOUTH Conference will be held in Logan in July with Pat Nicholls Judy May Eddie Burghardt Rosalie Sorensen and Marion A A. A Behunin director director director dir dir- ector attending IT WAS discussed for the chapter to tomake make make- a 1000 the Uintah r C Col County to tobe be used in the pediatrics ped ped- ward b but t the matter was was' tabled 1 until further r research search could be conducted and no firm amount was was decided until prices of equipment needed by the hospital hos- hos pital be obtained Marilyn Thacker Uintah Uintah Uintah Uin Uin- tah County Nurse arid and Chapter Advisor will wiD furnish this information at at the next meeting Mr Riddle again stated what an excellent excellent excellent ex ex- job the chapter had done on its fund raising and how enthusiastic the youth of the community had been and how instrumental the junior high and senior high schools had be been bien en in raising the I tremendous amount of money Mrs Behunin noted that in scholarships was given this year A DONATION of was given to the Aron Thedell burial fund by the chapter Mr Thedell was presented with witha a March of Dimes Award for outstanding help May 24 1973 and died May 25 1973 His help and untiring energy was very instrumental in the Walk a It Itis Itis Itis is hoped that the next walk walk-a walk walk-a-thon thon that thatis is conducted in the area will be as successful successful successful suc suc- as the last past which he helped to make so ver very successful Mrs Dickey expressed her gratitude to the chapter for the help and support which had been given to Eric Eric our poster boy for 1973 will undergo surgery in the very near future and the donation sent seat to the birth defects center center center cen cen- ter will be used to help Eric and other children born with birth defects in the Uintah Basin area The next meeting will be held July 20 at the Uintah County Courthouse Those attending the Youth Conference i in July will give reports The eyes of black bear cubs dont don't open until the cubs are about 40 days old Even then their vision appears appears' to tobe tobe tobe be poor for several weeks |
