Show r i 7 r I Y r l t f i iw f x 3 t i 4 h I I 1 OUT THEY GO 1 SO antelope were unloaded at Cedar Springs in the Iceland rea a-rea area southeast of Price for their new home Daggett Antelope Moved From Prom Overgrazed Area A herd of antelope were trapped in Clay Basin Daggett County and transferred to an area in iii Carbon County near Cedar Springs approximately 15 miles southeast of Price on I land THE TRAPPING operation took place February 11 in the Clay Basin area next to the Green River nIver About 15 Division of Wildlife Resource men spent five days preparing the circular fence trap which was feet in diameter and contained two 1000 feet entrance wings Only 15 minutes time was needed for a helicopter ter tel to herd the antelope into the trap after once spotted reported officers The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources ces obtained an agreement with the Wyoming Wyoming Wyoming Wyo Wyo- ming Game and Fish Commission and the Bureau of Land to remove remove re reo re- re move the antelope from the critically overgrazed area in Daggett County and place them on land in Carbon County The winter range has I been depleted depleted de de- de by increased numbers numbers' of antelope antelope ante ante- lope deer sheep and cattle AFTER THE antelope were trapped they were left for a day to calm down then they were tagged and loaded into a large truck and hauled to Carbon County near Cedar Springs ly 15 miles east of Price on land The planting area has been partially stripped of cedar and juniper and re- re seeded As a result forage is plentiful with ample natural cover along with a year around year around water supply |
