| Show Rep Dennis Asks For Basin Support of Dear Mr Editor and all people of the Basin I feel very grateful for all that has been done and all that we have acquired in our OUI Con Education Center Center and I Vocational school They are arc a great asset to the people of this area aren Their Influence in tile the fut fut fut- future ure lives of some of our young people and adults alike is a beyond measure I But like seeds planted in cold untitled untilled and ed cd soil they cannot hope to grow without our constant support and effort We all must seek to todo todo do our part in bringing them up to their full stature and pot Those of you who wrote letters to the legislature those who pledged scholarships those of you who attended our pub pub- public lie lic meetings and those who worked on committees all need to continually push this cause forward OUR GREAT challenge still remains the same to show our need for this type of Institution and be willing to carry the peo pies pie's share of the work load and financial to bal bal- balance ance the of the state Under the present conditions It is difficult to a attract ct young I people to stay here with all the glamour and atmosphere of the big campuses to lure them away but if we hope to survive we must have them and each of you must help Much effort is being directed toward providing some of the facets of life for those who are attending in hopes that more will want to We have a student body or we have a column in the Student Life at and a page In the yearbook On November 9 our basketball team began its first practice I and our first big student body activity Is a dance November 16 with the famous Scotsmen band from and there are more events coming WHAT CAN you do Where do you fit In How can you help First all of you can buy a ticket to this dance and then hen go and enjoy the music even if you dont don't dance If we dont don't get a good crowd to make these young people feel that their outstanding efforts are worthwhile they are going to be discouraged and feel that it isn't worth it Then we need to support the ball team and every beginning effort to make this more attractive We also need to have a large larga public crowd out when Dr Taggert our new president of visits our area about Dec ember 4 or 5 Watch for this announcement We need much more more- support in our continuing efforts to pro vide scholarship money It I seems that our pledges in far too many cases have turned out to be hollow and meaning less Those who have contri buted need to make it a con program with a con every year WE NEED to organize an endowment committee and start to put some money together for buildings for a laboratory or a dormitory In short we need to get going and the opportunities are limit Umit limitless less in both scope and magni tulle tude It takes the dimes as aswell aswell well as the thousands of dol dol- dollars lars and It takes the whole community as well weIl as the the- thein in in- individual students Lets all do our part and leave something pere here for posterity Thank you Danniel S Dennis |
