with the neighbor neighbor- neighboring ing counties of Duchesne and Wasatch populations with similar or grouping Uintah with Daggett and Grand counties Senator is particular particular- ly County has due to its mineral gas and oil development and reserves HE THOUGHT it likely that a tax increase will be approved and will b be necessary to keep the state government operating I even at its present level leel al- al though although he said he dislikes tax increases as they tend to dis- dis discourage discourage courage new industry He approved of additional funds for tourist promotion and also said he believed that some funds als also should be allocated for industrial development Senator said he he is urging a range long program of promotion for the development of industry I shall attend an all hearings bearings and committee meetings to be informed on all the major issues and I will not sponsor a bill unless it has real merit the senator stated State Rep Manwaring predict predict- predicted predicted ed the new session will be one of the most challenging in its history lIe also warned of the dangers of reapportionment to Uintah County and said that the state must be kept out of financial bondage Si I DO NOT believe in a too centralized government either state or federal he averred lIe He has urged a laying aside of personal feelings and a work additional al revenue from other sources Alternatives suggested have been a one half percent increase in the sales tax or a small In- In Increase in crease in the state income tax Senator has said he
