Show Utes Grant Rights For Water latex Project After a day long meeting Thursday of last week at Ft Duchesne the Uintah and Ou Ou- Ou Ouray ray Indian Tribe agreed to reo re linquish water rights to acres of land in exchange for future help from the Central utah Project John S Boyden attorney for forthe forthe the tribe explained the doru docu- document ment to the business committee which later signed it it THE LAND involved is cur cur- currently currently not being used or develop develop- developed ed by the tribe Mr Boyden explained that whites working land adjacent to the reservation do not have sufficient water for their crops but under the contract will be beable beable able to use the Indians rights Later the tribe will be recompensed recompensed by Green River water in the ultimate phase of the central utah Project which will supply the water through a tern of canals and pipelines AT PRESENT there are no facilities to transport water to develop the lands Involved inthe in inthe the contract The scheduled completion date of the Project is 1995 and the agreement signed by the Indians allows use of their water until 2005 or when the project is completed which which- whichever whichever ever is the earlier Mr Ir Boyden pointed out that this good neighbor policy of the Indians will be of great as- as assistance as to the development of the Central utah Project The five tribal business com com- committee committee members approved the th e contract unanimously |
