of the board members were present hyrum popo rope of tho the firm of pope po and durton burton architects of salt lake city presented plane plans and drawings for tho the senior high school building and made a proposition of at handling tho the architectural part of the work unless tho the proposed bonds carried thoro there was to bo be no charge made maste for their work of making the plans tho the propos proposed eck building will contain 16 class rooms largo large gymnasium and auditorium and will cost between and for par the remal nedr of tho the bonda bond a tour four room school building for leota and aridell is proposed also a two room addition to the lapoint school and repairs and heating plant at the fort Du duchesne chesno school A motion was mado by B 0 colton seconded by william marshall that the offer of pope and burton bo accepted this was carried but william hoeft wanted it understood and so recorded he was against tho the proposition the same gentlemen again proposed the bond of for the purpose of building a senior high school building and needed improvements prove ments and building in sever communities and the election to be held just as soon aa as it legally could all of the members were in favor famor of the proposition with tha exception of mr hoeft who again wanted his name to be recorded as voting against the people deciding for themselves as to whether they desired the improvements ai at this time mr colton remarked during the discussion that this was the only american way of doing the thing thins and that the people bad had the right to decide the question for themselves as tho the great nee need d had arisen for the proposed buildings and that it was false economy for the hoard board to expend the peoples money in making makeshifts make shifts and then in a few years have boex to expend many thousands more than now proposed to get to where this bond would properly pu put t them he again repeated the only true american way was to let the people decide and then if they turned it down the board could feel justified in really squandering money to meet the temporary needs of the schools but that ho he thought the majority of the desired th the tha a needed improvements so their children could be properly educated mr air hoeft made mado seconded by mr caldwell that the previous action of the board in ordering funds expended on the farm creek school be rescinded this carried unanimously as it appears there are not enough children in this section to justify a school last year of liberty bonds owned by the district were paid off and with the other amounts of the sinking fund there is about to bo be reinvested in approved securities which according to law must be in united states securities state or county bonds the board was unanimous in the decision to invest this money at the earliest possible opportunity in bonds maturing before the time needed for the payment of at its own bonds and the clerk so ordered to find sidio simons and fels united states national co and international tru trust 8 t co denver the three high bids were palmer bond and mortgage co who offered 99 40 vallery vallory and co and benwell Beri well phillips and co 99 30 central trust co and bosworth chanute co the bids were awarded the palmer bond and mortgage co who bear the expense of proceedings ce and furnish the bonds which practically makes their bid at par the bonds mature in 20 years and optional after 15 years bearing 5 per cent per annum mr weld one of the unsuccessful bidders stated that the high bid nas as a very strong one
