that mrs aire kate caldor calder wife of or son D 11 caldor calder had been stricken with paralysis par ulysia sho she seemed to be recovering rapidly until monday thoro there was a second stroke when it was known it would only be a matter of a few days until tho the final sum mong mons would come A third stroke on friday march 10 caused death at eleven a m her ifer youngest daughter kathryn i who was in california on a mission and son zelph 8 coach at carbon county high school at price arrived about an hour before the death of their mother they drove all night on oil their way from price when the tile nowa news was wits first received zelph was sick and thought ho he would be unable to bo be at the bedside mrs afro kate caldor calder waa was born february 8 at mill creek salt lako lake county utah to john F and elizabeth she graduated from the university of utah in tho the class with rachel edwards who later tater became principal ofine of tho the large salt lake schools and mrs william at stewart whose husband wae was formerly at the head of tho the normal department of the U of U on july 28 1887 she married 0 at calder and two years later they came to ashley valley mrs caldor calder by her ability and loving disposition immediately became a social educational and religious leader thirty two years ago she taught her first school in a log school house southeast of town and has been engaged in school work ever since two years ago she became primary supervisor in the uintah school district which position she occupied at the time of her death in a religious way mrs calder was an untiring worker all her active life and served in many positions in the ward and stake eight years ago this march she was chosen as president of the young ladles mutual improvement association in uintah stake and on saturday actor being stricken the day before was planning work mork to be carried on in their behalf with all of her public activities she raised a large family all highly respected in the community one son sylvanus died of diphtheria while quite young alton gave his life in the cause of liberty dying of influenza at fort logan colorado about a month before the close of the war 0 mentzer a teacher in ashley valley zelph S coach of the carbon high leo a farmer on diamond mountain mrs J robert robinson of salt lake city whose husband was formerly a teacher in the uintah academy and now assi assistant sant in the attorney generals office both mr air and mrs robinson were sick and the daughter has not yet been told of her mothers death kathryn is fill neighbor of the departed who told bt bf mrs airs calders long pioneer teaching record in the ashley valley and paid glowing tribute to her a as a neighbor teacher friend wife and mother and stated her friend had labored as a missionary and teacher in the ashley valley for over thirty years and active in her duties as teacher and church w worker until stricken the second time john N davia davis was never found her when she was not ready to do her duty no matter bow how difficult the trip might be mrs frank orser of roosevelt who for years had been associated in the uintah county schools with her
