Show WALTER WOOLLEY CHOSEN AS ORATOR f FROM UINTAH STAKE last friday march 22 the mutual improvement associations of the stake met at the academy building to have their final stake tryout lu in public speaking contestants were there ato jo represent the ashley 0 onnes lines vernal second and liberty wards walter woolley was mas the first speaker taking for his subject the spirit of america which was treated in an excellent manner and an inspiration to all present davis morrill of the liberty ward was the second speaker his subject was patriotism of 1918 mr air morrill handled his subject in a most commendable manner and gave the audience more than they had anticipated the third speaker was harry bowes from the ashley ward bard his subject was I 1 great rest responsibility the subject sub hect was well framed and the delivery of mr bowes boes gave evidence of a coming orator russell kussell harrison from the glines ward was waa the final speaker hla his subject being why we are at war the manner in which mr harrison handled his subject convinced all present that we are justified in our war with mith germany james jamea H wallis earl thompson and miss harnett barnett were the judges selected and they were unanimous una in awarding the honors to walter woolley A splendid solo was rendered by victor abplanalp A perfect day while NN bile mrs airs edna crowther Crow lher jones sang joseph the seer this selection was especially chosen by the stake slake M mutual officers for the occasion after the public speaking contest four sets irom the adjoining wards had a practice for the plain quadrille which they intend dancing at the inter stake tryout to be hold held next month 0 h |
