leadership that the teachers of this county are fortunate la in having knowing 4 owing that the group plan tor for s school hool was quite out of the question at the present time they have gone ahead and determined to do all in their power tor for the children by visiting all the patrons and offering to hear the child individually recite the most essential lessons in the curriculum fo tor a halt half hour every other day in most of the homes the parents felt that this plan was wag perfectly and elated with nith the efforts the teachers were making to see that the children lose 1080 the remainder ot of the school year there are some families whose children are just recovering from the flu a few who thought they would wait a week or two and see it community conditions looked more favorable and some who were too frightened of the disease to take any risk whatsoever A very few suggested that the school year was so nearly gone that little could be accomplished however at that time there were tour four full months halt half of the original school term left since trying it out at the maeser school we find it decidedly effective fec tive because each pupil feels directly responsible for all the subject matter assigned mr larson and mr richens had been carrying out this individual plan for a month before it was suggested that the other teachers do likewise mainly because one was suffering from the flu and two others had bad not completely recovered from the effects ot of the flu all contracted while to in the field ot 0 volunteer nursing during tho the month that school had been in fi easlon by this plan sixty students I 1 attended the grammar grades and in that length of time there was no bad effects from the disease in any one case out of the 39 families who have children in tho the grammar grades only tour four are not sending their children at present writing there is per cent attendance of pupils to the individual plan in the eight grade from a survey made from the upper grades we find that about 30 per cent would be in favor of starting their children it if school should start now all of the teachers are carrying on their work nicely
