Show SPLENDID RESULTS IN 14 THE OPERATIVE cooperative CO HOG SHIPMENTS car of hogs bogs went over the top price to the tune of 10 cents per pounds on the salt lake market it seemed real but it was true 16 85 per pounds pound on foot even after the long haul vernal to watson by wagon 64 54 miles thence 76 75 miles over baxter pass in dead of winter to mack where the shipment was given a good feed and rest then shot through to salt lake over the D R G without a hitch hut but tho the outstanding feature of 0 this shipment is the tact fact that aln tah tab county has the farmers who stand pat in cooperative effort too much praise cannot bo be given given these men and the spirit with they worked president ernest eaton baton who accompanied the shipment to the stock ards did his work in a most satisfactory manner through his efforts with those of the tha teamsters from vernal to watson an athe excellent service rendered by the railroads and the stockyards stock yards people the shipment suffered but a mere per cent ceat shrinkage this light shrinkage was due ue also to the excellent condition of the hogs indicating that some of our farmers understand the feeding I 1 stunt the shipment was considered the best that had come into the yards for nearly a month these hogs consequently topped the market this netted our farmers nearly 13 cents per pound on toot foot in vernal 1 an increase of over 2 cents per pound over the price offered by field commission men who haa bane for several weeks been offering 10 cents centa this bit ot of operative cooperative co effort net ted a total saying saving of over on the one carload lot this serves as a good indicator showing the manner in which many of our fa banners have been and are loosing some of hard earnings by not holding more closely together in operative cooperative co ac tivit les this happens not only in live stock shipments but it happens la in other lines of production as well la Is it not time that we as farmers were getting together attend to our own business instead of having haing others do it for us word has come to us from one of our neighboring counties that a commission man operating there la Is reported a shaving said bald that he has already made over out of the damn farmers and that lie was waa going todo it again the sooner the real producers can overcome such a condition the letter better off both society and industry will be dut but we must stand pat to right principles another shipment Is on la in the process of being made any one bay baa ing good well finished hogs bogs weighing from to pounds report to the county agents office at once |
