Show A new alfalfa the semiarid semi arid station at hays city kansas has discovered a species of alfalfa that will grow on upland without irrigation it has a fine stem bushy top and grows as thick on the ground as timothy it does not require much moisture it will yield three crops a year and the seed crop is said baid to be larger than the regular alfalfa the new discovery means much for the great plains region in the past alf alfalfa alf a has been grown chiefly in the valleys which of course fo n only a small part of the area the new crop will enable farmers and stock raisers to produce alfalfa anywhere some people think ereis theres th only one kind of alfalfa the fact is there are 14 different kinds but only one or two will grow on the upland without much moisture and one of these we have had here in utah for several years it has produced three cuttings in a season of normal precipitation |
