Show an Interest lag lecture d evening electure r I 1 r the auspices of the stake mutual improvement associations by dr garrett odonnell upon t tie the theme I 1 for what we live it if was a fear fearless lesi aria and forceful description of conditions exist existing sug among the younger generations in this community and a few suggestions which h if carried out would result in marked marke d improvement along many lines sho she deprecated the lack of ambition and energy exhibited by many and urged strongly that we till nil make the best possible use of our opportunities and the natural talents with which the creator has endowed us her description of the of many of our people were vivid and cutting but sad to say too true iler her ideas relative to the fertility of the unfit and the necessity for curtailing the prorogation of certain undesirable elements in society were bold and clear cut but well worthy the consideration of all thoughtful people she is a aprong amstrong believer in the value of environment viron ment as a means of overcoming inherited niclous traits of character she made a strong appeal for greater effort to give the children a good edu cation A few Ins instances tancos were related showing the disposition of some people to deprive their children of these advantages the value of students con in school until they graduate t e from some good college and their life work has been chosen was shown reverting again to our local conditions dit ions the lecturer spoke of tl the necessity for trained nurses in this valley there is 13 not one here and riot not one of our young lidies has so BO far evin evinced ceda a disposition to take the three years hard training necessary to qualify herself for that noble useful and active calling the lecture was a very able effort and furnished much food for reflection and hints to be followed with profit by all |
