Show W agricultural college of utah the department of horticulture will use thirty or forty acres of tho the central farm at lehl lehi for experiments in fruit growing watch the results the agronomy Agi onomy staff are planning a series of experiments for the comin coming season on the rotation of crops and on oil forage crops special effort will be made to determine the value of peas and gorn corn as forage crops the experiment station lately received a variety of holless barley grown in idaho at an elevation of feet it is believed that it will prove a profitable variety for condit conditions ionti in utah both on the irrigated and dry farms the station will dete irnine its value by eler experiment 1 ament this summer prof f bull ball lectured on spraying before the salt sait lake Ilotti horticultural cultural society at salt like city on february 24 th seven members of the faculty left the collage feb to hold institutes in various districts of the state president kerr and professors northrop and mclaughlin will visit nephi and later hold meetings along the line as far south as st george where they will hold forth for two days professors jenson clark coety and director aeder will spend two weeks in Sari sanpete pete and aal juab counties f professors stewart and jardine and crokett will lecture before the farmers institute itt at smithfield on march I 1 st the commissioner appointed by the governor to investigate the duplication of work in the university and the agricultural college visited the collegnon Coll college egeon on feb it is hoped that the report of the commission winch which is to be filed with the governor on july 1 will suggest a feasible plan to settle the controversy thus avoiding the unnecessary expenditure of time and money at each recurring session of the legislature in useless contention tho the agricultural college has just reached i the position where it can effectively aid the farmers of the state and it would indeed be unfortunate for them to have the growth or usefulness of their institution in any way curtailed I 1 or retarded |
