Left allemande your comer and do-si-do your own." These, along w ith many other square dancing calls can be heard as you pass by the Uintah County Library multi-purpose room. The square dancing class is part of the summer youth program at the library. It is in its second week. "We have expanded this year more than before, " said Evan Baker, instructor in-structor of the class and librarian. The students learn how to circle left and right, right and left grand, allemande, do si-do. right and left through, ladies star, square through, weave the right. California Iw irl. star through, and many more calls. According Accor-ding to Mr. Baker, there are about l.Vi basic calls. "We get alxmt half way through depending on the group," he said. There are atxnit 2" students enrolled enroll-ed in the class. At the end of the summer, sum-mer, the class w ill put on a program for their parents to show (hem w hat they have learned throughout the summer sum-mer months. Evan has square danced for nearly six years. 1 le took a square dance calling call-ing class during his last year at BVU. While in school, he was a member of the Cougar Squares at BVU and served serv-ed as treasurer for two years and one year as president. Mr. Baker has called some one night stands, taught a round dance class for community schools, and taught the summer square dance class. Jodi Schow said, "Mom wanted us to take square dancing or folk dancing. I look square dancing because I already knew the first part."
