Mike Saupe fired in a two-pointer for Vernal 6th lead to tie up the game at 2-2 and Rod Hamson, Jim Hamilton and Mark Reynolds scored to give Vernal an 8-2 lead. A hook shot for two points by Naples' Mike Lance cut the Vernal 6th lead to four points at 8-4, but Neldon Seitz carried car-ried the ball down the court and scored for a 10-4 Vernal 6th lead. Alec Clark of Naples scored a two-pointer, two-pointer, but two hoops in a row by Reynolds delivered an eight point lead of 14-6 to Vernal 6th. Bolder ripped the nets for a field goal to make the score after one quarter, 14 to 8 in favor of Vernal 6th.
