Show I ' V Mike Levac is new fire warden. New fire warden to issue permits Mike Levac will be the Forester-Fire Forester-Fire Warden for Uintah County this year. He is a graduate of Paul Smiths College. Col-lege. In 1981, he was the Forester-Fire Warden for Duchesne County. Levac reminds people in the county that the Utah Fire Control designates June 1 to Oct. 31 as a closed fire season. During the closed season, it is a misdemeanor to set on fire, or cause to be set on fire, any flammable material on any forest, brush, range, grass, grain, stubble material or any hay land without first securing a written writ-ten permit from the Fire Warden and complying fully with the terms and conditions prescribed with the permit. Burning permits can be obtained at no cost from Levac. Call 789-2092 or 789-7021. Any wildland fires should also be reported to Mr. Levac. Fire danger has been low due to the unusually wet spring, however, it will soon be dry and the fire danger will be high, Levac said. Each year 60 percent of all fires are man-caused. "These fires are preventable so let's try to reduce the percentage this year," Levac said. Levac suggests obtaining a burning permit when burning debris because it is unlawful without one, and don't allow children to play with matches. -c.. -.. -V V .. .i. .l. 1 |
