Consistently good play ing by Hryson. Gardiner and Morgan l.oe kept racking up the points. Hryson wound up top scorer with 27, Gardiner made 12 points and Morgan Lee was close behind with 10. Although lorg scored only tw o points he w as responsible for obtaining ob-taining the ball and feeding it to the top scorers. The l'tes "H" team had a close battle before w inning by 44-34 The last quarter was a close race w ith Altamont getting ahead in the last four minutes. Hard-fighting L'tes last Friday demolished the Duchesne Eagles 84-63 and felt optimistic about defeating l'nion tomorrow i Friday i to qualify for a state berth. Tomorrow's game is very important impor-tant to both the Cougars and the l'tes as if the l'tes get upset there w ill be another three-way tie. With Coach Thair Allen's top coaching. plenty of fight from the l'tes and lots of supxirl Irom the student body, the local Redskins should Ik- able to go all the way to state At Duchesne game the l'tes led all the way . I'hil Hryson was high point man w ith 27 (xiinls and Hill Caldwell was runner run-ner up with 17 points. The l'tes didn't have everything their own way though as the Eagles plaved a very good brand of ball. Ten wrestlers went from Uintah to state finals and four of them placed. Tom Alexander came in first in the 145 pound class; Hilly Murray first in the 134 pound class; Tod Slaugh placed fourth in the 138 pound class and Jim Baxendale fourth in the unlimited class. L'I N'T AH LOSES FIRST LEAGUE GAME TO ALTERRA The first league game of the season was played with Alterra on their floor Friday night. Alterra won w ith a score of 41 to 34. The Fighting Utes played a good game and did some smooth passing. Most of the time the score was very close. At the half the score w as 16-15 in favor of Uintah. Lopez and Snyder were Uintah's high score men w ith nine points each in their favor. Captain Haws played an exceptionally excep-tionally good game and had 7 points credited to him. |
