Panthers down Orem Vernal Junior High girl hoopstors gained their tenth win of the season when they toppled the Orem cagers in Vernal Thursday 2G to 20. The Panthers have defeated Orem, Duchesne, West, Roosevelt, twice and Altamont, Range-ly. Range-ly. Vernal has only born defeated by Canyon View. The Panthers have a 10 1 mark. The Orem crew was scoreless from the field, but they put in three free throws for a 3-2 lead in the first quarter. Kim Drollinger scored Vernal's two points on a field goal. Vernal grabbed a 12 to 9 lead in the second quarter as they outscored Orem 10 to 6 on six points by Tia Liebhardt and two points by Marcie McNeill and Cami Reed. Panthers' Liebhardt and McNeill connected for field goals to give Vernal a 16 to 13 lead and the Vernal crew pocketed an advantage of 18-13 in the third quarter on a field goal in the final minute by McNeill. Liebhardt put in a free throw for a 1913 Panther advantage, but Orem's Harris fired in a field goal and one free throw to cut Vernal's lead to three points at 19-16.
