Show Reading Rally held at Naples School Reading Road Rally winners were announced at an honors assembly at Naples Elementary School on April 13. i Two grand prize winners, who won ; ten speed bicycles, were Cindy Anthon and Debbie Anthon, sisters. First prize winners of cassette tape recorders were Jimmy Wilkins, James Merrell, Niki Wilkins, Jody Carlson, Marsha Smuin, Colleen Shirley and Bruce Jones. Second place w inners each received a CO gift certificate. They were Nathan Sharp, April Skewes, Aleisha Cook, Audrey Hughes. Travis Carlson and Lila Hughes. $10 gift certificates were awarded third place winners: Trent Dean, Shanna Hughes, Kimberly Hughes, Racquel Tolman, Kristie Young and Lea Halverson. i Fourth place winners of Bigger Burger gift certificates were: Becky 1 Goodrich. Kevin Sadlier, Denise Cook, " Krista Wall, Joann Cranney, Kim Spooner, JoAnn Sadlier, Angela Allen, Matt Merrell. Shad Luthi, Deborah ' Hamner and Mark Card. i Mr. Reay won a $10 gift certificate for having the most participation in the " Reading Road Rally from his classroom. The rally was a six week project "l conducted by families to encourage ' reacting in the home. Five or six different dif-ferent things had to be done each week and tallied by the family in order to " participate. Some of the assignments were: for j the family to go w ithout television for a ' shole week, the parent was to check a (book out of the county library', read it and re-tell the story' to others in the family or the parent was to read a book to the child. For the Rally, the parent or guardian was called a navigator and the students were drivers along the road to better reading habits. ' Honor students from Naples were also given certificates for achievement 7 in scholastic areas, fine arts, im- provement, perfect attendance and participation in the Knowledge Bowl. |
