Show Local resident killed in traffic accident A Vernal man was pronounced dead on arrival at the Ashley Valley Medical Center Tuesday morning, April 13, after his car veered out of the traffic lane and struck a parked semi-trailer on Main Street. Jay A. Burraston, 41, was westbound at 201 East Main, Vernal, when his 1975 Chevrolet Vega was crimpled under the back end of a semi trailer parked on the north side of the highway. Charles H. Kerr, Hill and Hill Truck Lines, Inc., Houston, Texas, said he was sleeping in the cab of the parked truck when he was awakened by the crash. He said when he got out of the cab he saw the vehicle wedged under the truck. Emergency Medical Technicians spent about 10 minutes at the scene unlodging the vehicle and extracting the driver. The Vega was totaled and about $1,000 in damages were reported to the truck. Kerr was legally parked in front of the Dinosaur Museum, police reported. Fatal accident (Continued from page 1) A high speed chase Tuesday night of last week ended in the driver of a motorcycle running into a low fence and being thrown from his motorcycle. Vernal City Police attempted to stop Ronald W. Martin, 20, of Vernal on a traffic stop at 200 West Main, Vernal. Martin refused to stop and attempted to elude police by traveling at speeds between bet-ween 70 and 80 mph and running several stop signs. The chase ended behind Uintah High School where Martin Mar-tin lost control of his motorcycle and was thrown several feet, police said. Martin was transported to the Ashley Vallev Medical Center where he was treated for a laceration on the head and released. He was arrested on charges of evading a police officer and driving under the influence of alcohol. Vernal City Police are still investigating in-vestigating a two-car accident on 100 I North Vernal Avenue involvine a i-tah i-tah County Sheriffs vehicle. The sheriff's vehicle was stonoeH the intersection while traveling and was struck by a 1967 Camero by a juvenile.
