Show NOTICE PUBLIC MEETING FOR COAL-FIRED ELECTRIC STATION Deseret Generation and Transmission Cooperative, 8722 South 300 West, Sandy, Utah 84070, has been notified that the Rural Electrification Elec-trification Administration Administra-tion (REA) will be cooperating with the Department of the Interior In-terior (DOI) in the preparation of a draft environmental en-vironmental impact statement (EIS) in accordance accor-dance with Section 102(2) (C) of the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969. At this time, it has not been determined which Federal agency will act as lead agency. This statement will address ad-dress a proposed two unit 800 MW coal-fired electric generating station. REA financing may be requested re-quested for the first unit which is scheduled for completion in the mid 1980's. The plant may be located in either Utah or Colorado. Notice is also given that the government govern-ment and Deseret will hold public information meetings concerning the proposed project. Representatives of the government and Deseret will host the public information infor-mation meetings which will be held on September 10, 1979, in the Parkview Elementary School auditorium at 7:30 p.m., Rangely, Colorado, and on Sept. 11, 1979, in the Golden Age Center auditorium at 7:30 p.m., Vernal, Utah. The meetings will be held in order to receive public input in-put and comments concerning con-cerning the need for the project, finalist sites proposed pro-posed by Deseret, other potential alternatives, significant issues that should be addressed in the EIS and other matters concerning the proposal. Site selection studies result in two finalist sites under consideration. One is located northwest of Bonanza, Utah, in Uintah County, and the other is located northeast of Rangely, Colorado, in Rio Blanco County. A record will be made of the meetings, and comments made will be addressed in the draft EIS. The REA encourages the general public to attend at-tend these meetings and provide their input. Any person or group which desires to place its comments com-ments questions, or recommendations in writing may tio so either at the meetings or by submitting sub-mitting them to REA. Comments may be sent to the Assistant Administrator Ad-ministrator - Electric, Rural Electrification Administration, Ad-ministration, U.S. Department of Agriculture, Washington, D.C. 20250, or to Deseret at the address given above. Requests for additional information or questions concerning the meetings may be directed to either Deseret or the REA, at their respective addresses ad-dresses given above.
