G Spencer F 4 Ak sr u 0 4 q Ai QUICKIE oik olk art painting Folk Art revived in rub out Folk arts are so easy to learn and yet most of them require a little more space and time than the Cupboard can provide Today though DeAnn Morgan J shares a quick and delightful folk art of rub out painting Begin by selecting an outline pattern that pleases you DeAnn chose a grouping of mushrooms in tall grass Match J a piece of to the pattern and roughly smooth on a medium layer of Permanent Permanent Permanent Per Per- manent Pigments titanium white hite acrylic paint This will dry in minutes When dry cover entire surface with a heavy coating of Permanent Pigments burnt umber oil paint CAREFULLY place a sheet of paper toweling over the wet surface and trace your pattern on to the board with the toweling absorbing between the pattern paper and the board When this is done an outline of your our picture is on the board and you are ready to arm yourself with a big box of Q Tips and begin removing the brown paint within the lines Leave shadows darker closer surfaces surfaces surfaces sur sur- faces lighter Grass blades are achieved by removing paint in strokes with a toothpick Projects are dry to the touch in a couple of days and no further finishing is required We thank DeAnn for sharing this truly fun folk technique with the Cupboard and only wish ish that her beautiful tole pa painting inting could be so easily taught |
