Show I We went to the bloodmobile Monday and gave a pint of oC blood for Cor the first time in a long time For several years we have made up excuses for Cor not going but this time we were determined determined deter deter- mined to go and we were proud to be there We couldn't help but notice the willingness to give and the good feeling radiating from those we met at the blood blood- mobile A good turnout responded to the blood donation call pints were donated For those who didn't make it we might report that giving blood is very simple and almost painless The worst part is the waiting in line for your turn and trying to squelch the natural psychological fear of blood For those who constantly work in contact with blood the idea may seem foolish but for those of us who associate blood with pain illness or tragedy just the thought of giving blood makes us want to back off a little The point we would like to stress is that once you make up your mind to it it is very easy to donate your blood You never actually know its it's gone and it makes you feel good that you are doing something for someone else who really needs what you can give them You may save a life We think all the squeamish feelings would disappear if we gave a little littlemore littlemore littlemore more often and kept in mind the unselfish service we are donating We salute those who give their blood and those volunteers who organize and assist in our regular Red Cross bloodmobile visit It is a great community project While in the city office this week Chief of Police Jonathan Jones and Superintendent of Public Works Lyman Merkley told us of their most recent ailments Chief Jones said he took look an airplane ride over Diamond Mountain the other day looking for people He said the low flying made rum hum airsick and he didn't think he would live until he got back down It took two days before he finally completely completely completely com com- recovered from his sick feeling Jones laughed Anyone who has experienced severe airsickness will sympathize with him Its It's awful Lyman told us that he spent four days in the local hospital with what at first was thought to tobe tobe tobe be a heart attack It turned tl out not to be one for which he was grateful but now he wonders what he did have Whatever it was we hope it doesn't reoccur Congratulations this week go goto goto goto to our Uintah High School wrestling team for bringing home their state cham cham- This is quite a record for the school We hope it con continues for a long time The Ibe Vernal nursing home was closed last Friday as scheduled and there wasn't much anyone could do about it It seems evident that the facility will never open again under the present state and federal regulations The thing to do now is to start immediate plans to get a new nursing home facility approved and licensed for the area We hope a private facility can be built but with all aU the problems surrounding private facilities it may take lake public funding to get one established |
