Show I The Uintah Roots Pioneer Day celebration activities Monday were good examples of getting back to the good old times of community In In- in The hour long parade with its many beautiful floats and entries entries en en- tries was a credit to the area The parade started on time and moved in rapid succession up Main Street Large crowds turned out all along the parade route to watch THIS TillS YEAH the focal point of the Pioneer Day activities was the Margerite Colton Cotton Bicentennial Bicentennial tennial Pavilion and ball park complex instead of the Uintah County courthouse grounds The parade started at the courthouse and proceeded up Main Street instead of the traditional route of coming down main street and ending at atthe atthe atthe the Courthouse grounds We liked the new parade route router It gave expanded observation ob ob- ob- ob ion serva space and took the congestion out of the downtown area The Bicentennial Pavilion and park area has much more space than the Uintah county block downtown The only disadvantage we could see was was that the parade marchers had to go uphill instead of the easier downhill grade grad on Main Street This may have been more tiring for them The Scout breakfast was well attended and was organized on such a large scale that the sometimes long waiting lines were done away with We would like to publicly thank those responsible for organizing the Pioneer Day activities They were very successful Success in a community community community com com- activity such as the Pioneer Day celebration is contagious contagious' and is a great help for other events as well wen as next years' years preparations for the the same occasion Congratulations to those who took part in the Pioneer Day celebration in Vernal C 4 z n nAs As we watched the Pioneer Day parade and pictured in our mind the tremendous progress man has made when compared to the early settlers of the area we were also impressed with the determination shown the several community groups who wish to make this an even better place to live WE ARE AHE REFERRING to the float stressing the need of a a anew new medical center and the long line of streamer covered cars proclaiming the need of a nursing home facility in the area These are two facilities we need in the community and with determination similar to the early pioneers we think our modern day community members can pioneer the way for even more conveniences that will help make life more meaningful and secure in the Ashley Valley Vaney area We salute our pioneers from the first settlers to those of the present time |
