Show Community involvement r ri n v i I a J JW strong n in AIS program With the t to toa a 1 Close ose of the residency y or of chUck Davis and Uon Ilon Love Luve School Artists representatives Its It's become apparent the the impact the two have hwe had Is hot entirely ly ton- ton fined to the thi school scho 1 s system lem as they presented v various glasses classes to the public that thai enl enlightened ned and fatigued the c Nearly fifty members took look advantage of the expertise and knowledge the two possess by taking two classes and a n dancers workshop last week The final class is being offered today at Inthe in inthe inthe the high school gym The participants in the classes were taken through a n wide range of exercises and movements designed to stretch and tone the body Many of the exercises were alien to many in attendance but through the guidance of Davis and the rhythmic beating of the drums by Love they were soon being performed with some level leyel of ease ense Tim TILE INTEREST held by the participants didn't go by unnoticed unnoticed unnoticed un un- un- un noticed by Ron Love as he says A A lot of communities weve we've been to leave it for the kids to participate but here many people o of various ages aces became involved That involvement signals an interest in Vernal for forthe forthe forthe the arts to continue in the dance area One of the goals of the dance component of the AIS program is to introduce to an area dance as an art form and to provide a basis for the interest to carry carryover carryover carryover over after the residencies are complete Love feels the continuum o of dance as an art form will certainly last here because of the thc interest generated by community members in their program Love expressed happiness happiness wilh wilh the community involvement nt and feels this community will really blossom in the arts particularly in dance He states that the arts sometimes are more well received in small smaIl communities than large ones because of the intimacy of the residents There ar are also many ny p people ople residing r. r residing ridin w T Tn ln n Vernal artistically if minded and cv having the arts here d Davis mentions the potential is really great here for or having a n strong arts field l particularly in inthe inthe inthe the dance area because the young people are arc not afraid to try tryout out new ideas that are presented to them They're also very individualistic and dont don't wait wail for or others to tell them what to do 10 ONE olm AREA r llO t they recently visited that exhibited uninhibited activity and strong involvement was the Maeser Training Center where they gave a lecture demonstration to the students Love felt the program was very well received there because of the boundless energy that many of the students have He Ile feels frels areas associated with the arts really succeed in en ern environments environments such as the Center when the energy is channeled into the artistic areas For community residents not fortunate to have met Chuck Davis and Ron Iton Love yet or to see any results of their teachings the two will be riding in the Homecoming parade this Friday on a float along with students of Gayle Reids Reid's fifth grade class clas from Naples Elementary School The students will be performing performing per per- forming songs and dances they learned In classes taught by Chuck and Ron the past two weeks does docs the community become involved with the AIS program the AIS program becomes Involved with the community r f lab f x p RON LOVE above standing supervises a rhythms and in instruments instruments in- in str ments class to Gayle Reids Reid's f fifth th grade class closs at Naples Elementary School while Chuck D Davis vis below left provides the main beat The pair of artists here through the AIS program will be featured in the Homecoming parade Friday when they ride with Miss Reids Reid's class on a Naples Elementary School float The students will perform many songs and dances learned during classes with Davis and Love e a d t r dW Y a s te si aw E 4 e I 1 4 sr 1 it 1 t oi J.
