stewart an acting justice of the peace in the th county of uta utah U T was called upon and informed that some borne dead buchea badiea had been found near this city I 1 considered the matter and as no coroner was at hand band I 1 considered it my duty to hold an inquest over oer said bodies accordingly I 1 summoned twelve discreet men and proceeded to the a spot t vve where ere said bodies were said to have hae apon been discovered discovered which is ia about rods south of the south gate of Spring springville ville city when we arrived there we found two dead bodie tig s two guns cun some borne two tio or three lilan bets and sack back of bread c I 1 qualified the jury and we ave proceeded to examine amine x the bodies the first body examined was recognized to be wm win B parrish it a appeared eared to the jury that hr be cime came to his big cipp death e t h in conse clence of many knife wounds inflicted on his bedl body and especially in his hia throat the tbt se second i was ascertained to be gardner G potter in whose breast were discovered four ball holes which abich no ijo doubt caused his death A third body av as found by the guard some fifteen rods the two former in in almost an east direction this I 1 body bod was wag recognized as season beason parrish Par riEb ile he kad had been shot sho with two balls in in the front art part of his left arm and three in the back of his is left shoulder which ellich no doubt caused his death the decision or verdict of the jury was as follows viz the above named bodies all came to their death by the hands handa of bodies lound found about ro rods d s a south of the south gate of city we repaired to the bodies we were there and then duly sworn to examine the bodies and render a just verdict thereon the first body was recognized to be wm win it parris parri h b his head lying east cast three cuts brid ard one shot in in the neck one of these a large gash on the left side throat three stabs in back on the left side the second was mas reco recognized nihed to be gardner G potter lying in the same position beside the other body bod four ball holes holca in the breast both these bodies had been apparently dragged from the middle of the state road about tw 0 and a half rods east A third body was found by the guard fifteen rods east fromA from where here theother the other bodies lay he be was recognized the inquest taken from the book of the justice ustice runs through several pages from the to the evidently having been written long iong after the time of holding the lie pretended inquest it was written on small S spaces paces left on oil the docket where other regular entries had bad been made in oi older der to make it appear as though it was placed there at the time that it should have been the reader should observe the character of these precious documents and the tact fact that the ju justice stice and many of the jurors are found in the council meetings spoken of by bartholo mew
