Closing party of the Gemmell Club Ladies Bowling league will be held at the Hot Shoppe in Salt Lake City next Tuesday even-ing,- April 15, at 7 p.m. Mrs. Verl 'Peterson entertain- - j ed Thursday evening of last , week for members of the Entre Nous club. During the German occupation, in 1944, a soldier was found dead in the street and in reprisal a number of innocent men were rounded up and shot. Bruno's father was one of these and his death left his wid-ow and children .in great pov-erty. The mother was granted a pension of $26 a month and she earns $9 a month more working in a tobacco factory. The family lives in one room, with some broken down furniture and no conveniences of any kind. There is not enough bedding to keep them warm. Giuseppe, 16, is now being taught a trade but it will be some time before he can be of any financial assistance to hia mother. Ettorina, 14, and Bruno live with the mother and go to school. Bruno is tall for his age, but thin. He is willing and obedient and an average stud-ent. His present is far too inse-cure for him to have given much thought to his future. JAMES P. DONOVAN ADOPTS ITALIAN BOY James P. Donovan of the U. S. Hotel, Copperfield, has "adopted' Bruno Fiorucci, a twelve year old Italian child, through Foster Parents' Plan for War Children, Inc., it was announced by Plan headquarters at 55 West 42nd Street, New York City, 18. Now celebrating its Fifteenth Anniversary, Foster Parents' Plan, has cared for more than 70,000 European war children. It ! is now operating in Belgium, England, France, Greece, Hol-land and Italy and is helping unfortunate and impoverished children of fourteen different nationalities, without regard to raco or creed. Foster Parents' Plan for War Children does not do mass re-lief, each child is treated as an individual. "Adoption'' is finan-cial, not legal. The foster parent I merely- - promises to contribute .$15 monthly towards the child's (support for at least a year. In return, the foster parent receiv-es j a photograph and brief his-tory of the child and correspond-ence through the Plan office is encouraged, since the children need the feeling of being loved and belonging to someone, some place. Though the war in Eur-ope has been over for six years, it has never ceased for these children. Bruno was born in Gubbio where his father worked in the fields.
