Show taape and ana templo work anagan and genealogies ea ca the completion and dedication of tho the salt lake temple adds another sacred edifice to those already in existence the purposes or of which are arc widely known among tile saints and is eoma extent understood by many in the world tho the saints have already in this dispensation baut and dedicated six temples which event has established e tho the fact that they are a building t people each cach one in turn stands as a mo monument of 0 their union which is equalled equal led in ill uniqueness by their sacred feeling beelin g for their dead and tho the desire to do the necessary work for them according in 0 to the laws lassof of the gospel which prompts T them to build them it I 1 ronld appear froni from a cursory cursor Y view that four temples which are now in active operation would meet al all the wants of the saints with respect to ordinance work for themselves sol ves and their dead but a moments reflection will dissipate that thai idea when it is considered that millions of tile ded must be officiated for and believing and knowing as we do that flint no greater duty devolves upon us its than that we look after and labor for our deadio would seem the proper thin thing to do to look around us and ascertain the extent of this work this being a gospel dispensation for the dead as aa well as for the living and that ill all those who have died without a knowledge of the gospel and hence lid did not comply with its essential and saying saving ordinances cannot enter into the kingdom of heaven which apropo proposition i tion 0 is made clear by the statement of the savior to nicodemus that except a man bo be born of the water and the spirit lie he cannot enter the kingdom kin dofis cit heaven then in view of the fact that millions upon millions who have lived an addid d i d shout a the jhb gosp Os 61 q 11 so aej 0 of 1 hearing rilla ii it much ae less 8 oab 0 ng g it t it is obvious that a work of vast valt magnitude rests upon the saints in in this latter dispensation avith respect to the dead as the elicitation of a few fl figures 0 ures will to dome fome extent show there were forty centuries from the birth of adam adain to tile the birth of christ and reckoning the average population of those generations to have been and two generations in a i century the centennial population would have been this multiplied by 10 arid and if we make an all allowance of one half hav ing ng C lied died under 8 years years old inducing in t those who kept the law of god 1 an and d those who vero officiated for in in temples there would bo be of that period remaining a to be officiated for and a again gain thero there has nearly elapsed since the birth of christ until the present time 19 centuries the present population of the ad globe is computed to bo be 1400 and three generations in a century hence the centenial population 1 tion would bo be now H if wo we average iver agetha 0 the centenial population of those 19 centuries at 19 times that equal if we make a similar allowance for this period of one halt half of this latter number 1 1 laving iving died under 8 years old including clouding these who received the gospel within tin this s period and these officiated for in ill temples among the nep bites hites there would be maning ren re ianina to be officiated for which amount added to the of tile former period there would be the vast sum of souls to bo be officiated for in n temples it is not claimed that tl hese ere numbers are arc realistic iut but I 1 ather suppositional yet it is believed that they will fall under rather than exceed the true num ber the millennium to commence at the close of this century during the 1000 years of the mil ili I 1 lenial period in which somo ome E believe that tho the baptism and work for the dead dead lire are to be accod accomplished p dished it would require about more temples baptising baptizing bap 1000 0 every every world working a day sundays Sun daes being excepted to accomplish tile the work of baptising baptizing bap alone not mentioning what other ordinances ire arc to bo be performed for the dead in this connection other labors labora aro are required to perform this stupendous work that of obtaining the geneale gen genealogies ealo e s 0 of the dead in order eliat an intelligent i rit e 11 i and
