Show LOGAN POLICE COURT. Assault Cases. On Friday last, Charles Reese was brought up for assaulting Thomas Davis with a pitchfork. Both parties belong to Benson ward. A counter charge had been laid by Davis against two of Reese's sons for assault. The first case was taken under advisement by the Justice, and decision rendered today, discharging the defendant. The last case was ruled on and defendants discharged. The criminal proceedings are the outgrowth of a feud of long standing between the families named. Liquor Cases. The following parties were arraigned yesterday for selling liquor, contrary to the city ordinances. W.C. Buck, C.H. Smith and Thomas Connor pleaded not guilty to the charge and their trials were set for Wednesday next. Henry Worley, J.P. Reed and W.S. Norcross pleaded guilty to the charge. They were each fined $99.00, which they paid. Hiram Edwards and Wm. (William) Benson pleaded not guilty, and their trials were set for hearing today. |
