The anxious parents missing the child went in search. Finding a little toy wagon that the child used by the side of the ditch they followed down the stream and found the body about forty rods below, but life was extinct. The grief-stricken parents have the heart-felt sympathy of the people in their sudden bereavement, as shown by the large number at the funeral. Smithfield. We arrived where Salt Lake City now stands about eleven o'clock. I had a little over a bushel of potatoes which I said I would plant before I ate or slept. I went to work at once, plowed the ground, and put the potatoes in before dinner. Next morning Pres. (President) Young had so far recovered at to be able to walk. We went on the ground now known as Temple Block and Pres. (President) Young said: "Here will be the temple of our God." George A Smith and myself ???? the first log huts completed.
