Show BY COURTESY of the editor, we have been permitted to peruse a portion of the proof sheets of an article entitled, "The Cities of Cache Valley and Their Founders," which is to appear in the next number of Tullidge's Quarterly Magazine. It might be surmised from the title, that the article will prove but a prosy out; we, however, found it of the deepest interest. It epitomizes the history of this valley, and while so doing, embodies many striking comments upon it, and sets forth, in a bold, almost dramatic attitude the group of men who were the founders of Cache Valley and of Logan city, presenting their achievements in a clear, brilliant, remarkably original, but strictly truthful light. The author's style, his manner of treating his subject and his selection of its phases to be dwelt upon, give the article a very great interest, especially to the reader who has past [passed] through or is familiar with the events described or the men who took part in them. This article on the history of Cache Valley will run through several numbers of the magazine, occupy a large portion of the space of each, and will make in all about 300 pages. It will contain, in addition to historical matter, biographical sketches of many of the leading men of this county, and will render the magazine of the deepest interest to the people of this valley. Tullidge's Quarterly Magazine is filling a most important sphere in the literature of this Territory. It's literary excellence is the product of a peculiar but genuine, and, we might add, a rare and unique genius, which gives to those portions of its contents which flow from the editor's pen, and his writings have thus far occupied most of the space of the magazine - an attractive and at times a thrilling interest. It is one of the largest magazines in America and is printed in clear, handsome type, on beautiful paper. The subscription price is $1 per year, post paid. |
