Show BEE BUSINESS. In answer to many enquirers as to when is the best time to ship bees, I would say, from October to March. The bees will bear moving and shipping better during that period than in summer. Bees in this county have done well this season, where they have been attended to. Drones have been plentiful up to July, but are now mostly killed off. This enables the workers to store up honey. Surplus honey boxes, if not on, ought to be put on immediately. The swarming season is over now. Queenless swarms had better be given to a swarm that has a queen as they will not live till spring. If there is any dark old comb with honey, take it out and put in empty frames. By working out old comb we can, to a certain extent, keep away foul brood. Geo. Hibbard, Apirist, Logan. |
