Logan is being favored with numerous amusements. Read the ordinance published in this issue of the Leader. <br><br> Diphtheria is spreading in Logan and surrounding settlements. It is reported that the snow is one foot deep in Wellsville canyon. <br><br> Mr. W. C. Lewis of Blackfoot, Idaho, was in town on Monday. Seven more days must pass away before Thanksgiving Day will arrive. The public are preparing to give Phil Margetts and his theatrical company a rousing welcome. <br><br> The new badge of the Logan rifle club has been received from Salt Lake City, where it was made. <br><br> One day coatless, with sport and laughter; colds and misery the day after. <br><br> Last Saturday, Mr. Phelan, of the well known firm of Harkness & Phelan, Oxford, Idaho, was in Logan on business. Sunday night was one of the coldest for this time of the year within the memory of the oldest or youngest inhabitant. Doctor J. F. Benedict, the skilled physician and surgeon, of Salt Lake, is in Logan, remaining here the guest of Doctor Ormsby. Phil Margetts intended playing in Brigham City on Wednesday, but the excitement over the homicide was too intense, and he deferred his visit. <br><br> Every morning now trees, telegraph wires and buildings are covered with a heavy frost; while the air is filled with the brilliant floating spangles. George Ainslie, Idaho's delegate to Congress, passed through Logan on his journey to Washington. He was accompanied as far as the Junction city, by Judge Crawford. <br><br> Just received at Ormsby's drugstore, the great remedies, Shiloh's Consumption Cure, System Vitalizer, Catarrh Remedy, and Belladonna ????; and the delightful perfume ????. nov20 lt <br><br> An unfounded rumor to the effect that Bailey, the homicide of Brigham City, had been lynched, was in circulation on our streets on Sunday last. He was taken to Salt Lake for safe keeping on Sunday. <br><br> The Ogden ???? Park Association have a grand opening of their track tomorrow. The races will continue during the period of two days, ???? ought to have ???? two or three flyers. <br><br> A rifle match ought to take place between the Logan team and a club from Wellsville or some other town where the boys? are in such good practice as to make ???? ???? who will be the challengers. <br><br> The butcher shops for the convenience of the public should be open at all reasonable hours. At the present time, it is impossible to obtain meat at the noon hour -- just the very time when many people are best able to go to market. <br><br> The notice in last week's Leader that sample bottles of cologne were to be given away at Ormsby's drugstore made that the busiest place in ???? counties. On Monday 73 children marched in a body from the schools of this city; and each one of them wanted to test the new perfume. <br><br> Mr. N. Cowle is canvassing for the works, "The Complete Home" and "Golden Sheaves." These are both good books, especially the first mentioned, which we recommend to those who want instructive and interesting reading matter, as it is all that its name signifies, and should be read by all parents. <br><br> Judge Dusen???? the well known attorney, has been spending a day or two in Logan, attending to some legal business. He speaks in the highest terms of the comforts and conveniences given to passengers on the U. & N. R. R. [Utah & Northern Railway], and also of the courtesy of the officers. The Judge thinks the little? Rail? road is now a grand success. <br><br> We received a pleasant call this morning from Messrs. H. L. A. Culmer and W. H. Culmer, of Salt Lake, who are in Logan attending to business and also searching after health and recreation. The first named gentleman is the publisher of the Utah Directory and is also a partner in the firm of J. C. Graham & Co., commercial and general job printers, and publishers of the Salt Lake daily Times. Mr. W. H. Culmer representing the house of G. F. Culmer, wholesale grocer, and dealer in window glass, &c., in the capital city. |
