Show James [section unreadable] Bear Lake county, Idaho, attended ?? conference here on last Saturday and Sunday. During a pleasant chat with him, he informed us of the recent purchase, by a joint stock company of Paris, of a complete printing office outfit and of the contemplated commencement of the publication of a weekly newspaper at that place. It is expected that the first number will appear during September next, and that L. O. Littlefield, Esq., of Smithfield, Cache county, will have editorial charge. Jos. Rich, Esq., alias "Saxcy," Mr. Hart, and other prominent gentlemen of Bear Lake, are interested financially in the enterprise and these names, counted with that of its editor, are a guarantee that the tone and character of the paper will be such as to merit and obtain the support of the people who have made that region what it is to-day. We hope soon to see the first number of the paper, that it will receive hearty support, prove a success, and shortly become a firmly established exponent of the views and defender of the rights of the people. While it is controlled by the gentlemen now establishing it, we will ever be found arguing on the wrong side of any question involving the interests of the people, and bespeak for it a generous patronage by our Bear Lake friends. |
