Show SUBSTANTIAL TESTIMONIAL. Given to Conductor Dan Roberts, of the U. & N. R. R. [Utah & Northern Railroad] We learn from the Ogden Junction that the following testimonial was inaugurated by Mr. C. M. Brown, conductor on the Utah and Northern. It speaks for itself: Whereas Daniel Roberts, conductor of the Utah & Northern railway, has been arrested and charged with robbing the mail on said road, we the undersigned railroad men, and friends of the same, subscribe the amount set opposite our respective names for the purpose of employing counsel and defraying the necessary expenses to insure a fair trial and giving him an opportunity to establish his innocence of the misdemeanor charged. Following this is the list of contributions to the cause mentioned, signed by numerous individuals and aggregating the sum of three hundred and some odd dollars. Conductor Dan Roberts will certainly not lack for friends or means; and with a fair chance will certainly prove his perfect innocence. |
