Show Fatal Fall. A Man Falls From a Wagon, is Run Over and Killed. A strange and fatal accident occurred on Saturday night last, at a point in Blacksmith Fork canyon, about fourteen miles east of the town of Hyrum. Brother Lane Dunford and wife, who reside at Bloomington, Bear Lake county, were traveling down the canyon from Curtle[?], in a wagon, which had no front end-gate. The road was extremely rough; and a sudden jolt threw both man and wife from the seat with such force that they fell out of the vehicle. The horses did not stop but dragged the wagon forward. Sister Dunford was unhurt; but when she spoke to her husband he did not answer. Drawing near his prostrate body, she found to her horror that he was dead. He had fallen with his head under the wagon and the wheels passed over his neck killing him almost instantly. Assistance was obtained and the sorrowing wife returned with the body of her husband to the town which in health and strength, they had left but a short time before. Brother Dunford leaves a large family to mourn his loss. |
