Stick daisies begin to smile. -- Tomorrow is St. Valentine's day. -- The election fever is not yet severe. -- Municipal election in Logan next month. -- Look under your front doors in the morning. -- The district schools of Logan are full to overflowing. -- Snow fell to the depth of six inches on Tuesday night. -- Read the call for a convention published in another column. Hyrum city has four schools in operation, and 200 pupils enrolled. -- Business is very quiet. Valentine dealers seem to have all the trade. -- Nearly one ton of drugs received at the Pioneer on Monday. -- The proprietor of the Pioneer, it is rumored, contemplates an enlargement of his premises. -- W.W. Burton, Esq., a prominent mercantile man from Ogden, was in Logan Wednesday. -- All-providing Nature seems to have a peculiar affection for those who love the merry sleigh-ride. -- The Logan choir ought to arrange and publicly produce an oratorio. Will the organization take steps to do this? -- Track laying on the U. A. N. R. R. [Utah and Northern Railway] will begin just as soon as the weather will permit. Already iron for about 40 miles of road, ?? the Terminus. -- Barnard White, Esq., of Ogden, widely and favorably known throughout the west as a prominent lumber dealer, is rusticating in this ?? metropolis of Utah. -- W.S. Fjeldsted deserves a prem? of duck shooting. On Wednesday he marched up the town with fourteen large fat ducks, the result of a trip into the fields on Tuesday. -- The new musical instrument called the organ?? has created quite a sensation for a time. We are of the opinion that it will soon grow old, unless some great improvements are made in tone, etc. -- A little eight year old boy in Wellsville, whose parents had been preparing some chickens for the market, was asked by a person who had called for them, if they were dressed, which he replied, "No, they are naked." -- Tradesmen, business men, and all who wish to qualify themselves for business, get the book entitled "Foundations of Success and Laws of Trade." Feed of any kind is becoming very scarce. Snow is apt to lay on the ground for some time yet and when spring does come, it is a question whether stock can find enough feed to sustain life as green grass is very weakening to poor animals. -- Mr. Phil Margetts, assisted by the Providence Dramatic Company, on Saturday eveing, Feb. 21st, will present to the public the beautiful three act drama entitled "The Will and the Way" with [unreadable]. The Company intends to make a tour of the county playing wherever suitable halls can be obtained. Feb13-ft. -- A certain young man, who is well known in Logan and whose initials are "A.J.", aspires to be a poet -- apparently. Here is his latest attempt: The churches are places, We everywhere find, Where men to the women, go to be joined ("jined.").
