Show THE "INNOCENTS ARE STILL ABROAD" to the chagrin of all those people who profess to be extremely well posted. As a proof it is stated that even so cool man as General Sherman is sometimes taken completely aback. A few days since a United States senator from a Western State was showing one of his constituents the Lions of Washington, and, among others, introduced him to General Sherman. On shaking hands, he said to the general, in an innocent way, "You were in the late war, were you not?" The Senator says that a more surprised looking man than the warrior was never seen. |
