Show DR. F. D. BENEDICT DEAD. On Thursday evening of last week, Dr. F. D. Benedict of Salt Lake, died of an attack of pneumonia after an illness of only a few days. We clip the following obituary notice from the Salt Lake Herald: The death-bed scene was heart-rending and trying in the extreme, and while his dangerous condition was fully realized, it seemed so nearly impossible to the dear ones around that he should die, that the dissolution came like a shock, and all broke down. Francis Denton Benedict was the son of Francis K. and Emeline Benedict. He was born December 27th, 1848, at South Canaan, Connecticut. He took a course in the medical department of the University of the City of New York, at which he graduated with distinction with the cases of ??. Before graduating, however, he took a special course in classics. On the 27th of March, 1870, he arrived at Salt Lake City, which has since been his home, and the scene of a most successful practice. On the 23d of April 1878, he was married to Chloe, daughter of the late Prst. Jos. A. Young. He was a young man of unusual intelligence and in his profession was second to none in this city, and was the peer of any doctor of medicine. His disposition was amiable and obliging in the extreme, and but for his untimely end, a long, useful, and honorable career was before him-a career in which he could have added much to an already extended reputation and a respected name, and continued to have done a vast amount of of good. |
