Show OSCAR WILDE'S LECTURE. Our Salt Lake exchanges criticize most unmercifully both the matter and the manner of Oscar Wilde's lecture, delivered in the Salt Lake theatre last Monday evening. The News describes his delivery as "insipidly diluted," and says many of his ideas are as old as the hills, while some of them are absurd. The Herald accounts for the large audiences which he draws by Puck's remark, "What fools these mortals be." It is not likely that a second lecture in Salt Lake would draw much of an audience. |
