| Show paradise pointers paradise may 19 1893 1892 2 EDITOR JOrR KAL by the appearance of things generally we decide that spring sprine has arri arrived the farmers are very busy putt putting ilig in grain etc there have been very few days this spring thatis that we e could do anything on the land on account of the wet weather lier the health of the people liaa has been good in most cases alie day schools have been well attended the two tao schools vi will ill continue until the end of the term this year we have rever before been able to keep two schools running runn int all tile the year last sunday we were nere favored with ll 11 a visit from president orson oreon smith ile he occupied moat in oat of the time limo in the afternoon service instructing the in to duties as latter day saints ilia his remarks were very timely and encouraging T tuesday last the young ladies association soc aaion held an anniversary celebration W 1 lich was a grand success tile the morning in meeting commenced at ten tell was waa spent in exercises of various kinds as songs recitations etc at noon the members of the association with their partners and a i few gue guests fiLe partook of a very good dinne together in the meeting nic eting house A short abort meeting was held field in the afternoon after which various articles such as tidies lace embroidery aults etc were exhibited and offered I 1 for sale they succeeded in selling most of the notions thle the articles wore were made and contributed by the members emberg ro and the proceeds will be used for buying books needed in the association sister townsend stake slake president ident of tile the Y L M 1 I A was present and addressed addi essed both meetings she was bi higly ly pleased with tire efforts of the young ladies and gave kind words of counsel praise and encouragement bicho bishops s samuel oldham Old liam and henry W jac jackson son were present and made short addresses talent and effi efficiency chency i was displayed in the exercises exer cites rendered and we cannot help but observe that the lie young ladies of paradise have the many necessary qualities for good wives tho rho dinner we partook of proved beyond a doubt that they were excellent cooks the quilts tidies etc shooed the chev v were viere skillful skill tal workers the theological exercises rendered expressed their feelings the readings songs and instrumental pieces rendered demonstrated their taste and talent the grin grind success of the whole athole affair took some gome executive ability to make it so great credit is duo due to the officers and committees com mitties for their untiring zeal in this good work the anniversary closed with a grand calico ball everything passed off very pleasantly and me BO cannot refrain from addine that tho the young ladies are arc very V r y graceful braceful dancers and alid thov they looked b beautiful ciul ti ul notwithstanding they were robed in in calico this is no novel mr editor but we feel alured that if you could have had bad the privilege lege of being hero here on this occasion occasion you would have decided that you were in paradise K R 11 |
