The Democraitc pirly of Utah county, coun-ty, by Its authorized delegates In convention con-vention assembled, Mihmlt tho following follow-ing declaration of prinelp'es: 1 We realll rm, and endorse tho Democratic pluitorm mlopipd by tho National Democratic Convention at Chicago In 1800, nnd especially that portion of said platform which declared in favor of the fr-ix nnd unlimited coinage of silver equal with gold at the ratio of lfl to 1. Tho warfaro ho-tueon ho-tueon the monry power of the world nnd tho mnscs of huninnlly is still on. tho Ifsuo Is as important now. and moro important than It was in 1895. It Is and must continue to bo a conflict between grinding monnpolles on the otio hand and the down-trodden tnnses on tho nlhr-r. until, by the mighty voice of the people nt 1 ho nnllot box it shall have been settled, and settled right. This is tlio paramount issue heforo the people. It -has hitherto been In U10 Slate of Uinh n question iiiiod which all of the political parties agreed. Recently, however, by the ue of juuuling words and menulnulcis termi", calculated only to obscure tho v.lt il question and befog the Ii-siip, tlio Republicans of Utah, with many honorable hon-orable exemptions, in violation of their solemn plodues ami promises to the people, have taken a backward stop In tho progress of tho light until It has become Impossible to regard them any longer In any other light than as the fricm's of gold and enemies of silver Tho only true friends of any question nro those who light for Its triumph, nnd fight to win. Such Is tho attitude of tho Deni'icnitln party towards the free and unlimited coinage of silver equal with gohl as a money of ultimate redemption. 2 flic Democrats of Utah county nro promt of tho results of the war with Spain, Wo are uono the less proud of tho fact that Democrat jo Senators Sen-ators and Representatives in the Congress Con-gress of the United States by unceasing unceas-ing agitation, In cplto of n formidable opposition by Republican loaders, created cre-ated a nnblio sentimont In the country which forced nnd oniqpdlod a reluctant reluct-ant Republican Administration to declare war. A declaration which not only tho distinction of the "Maine" was arranged, but liberty and the opportunity op-portunity of enlightened frco government govern-ment wns extended to an oppressed ri iirl down-trodden people. 3 Wo reaflirm our ndheceneo to the doctrine of equal suffrage, and nro proud of that provision of tho Constitution Consti-tution of the Stnto of Utah, by which equal sulTVago Is guaranteed without regard to the distinction of sex; and wo declare that that provision of the Constitution, and tho laws made lu pursuance thereof should he given the fullest possible effect; and tho absolute right of women to vnlo nmj hold oillco should bo uphold nnd maitalned. 4 Wo congratulate tho people of Utah county, apil tlio Democratic party therein' upon the clean, frugal nnd honest administration of tho county government by the officers olected In 1800.
