Show SiiBMlay Services. At ot. George Tabernacle. Sunday, July 12, 1896. Bishop James Andrus presiding. Elder Wm. H. Thompson said he is always willing to perform his duty in trying to benefit his brethren and sisters in the gospel in trying to teach them the truths of the gospel, as, by so doing he is benefited the most of anv. for the snirit of God instructs both speaker and hearer. He desired to so live that he will be worthy to receive the blessings of the gospel continually. He gave some good advice to the Latter-day Saints in relation to doing the work in the Temple for their dead friends that they too may be placed in a condition to be judged as men in the flesh. Elder George F. Whitehead desired de-sired the spirit of the Lord to bless hjm in his endeavors to speak to the people. He spoke of the law of tithing tith-ing and shewed that the law of tithing was a blessing as also a privilege to the Saints of God. Read the promise of God given to his people anciently as recorded in the Book of Malachi, and also the law of tithing as given to the prophet Joseph Smith in the latter ' davs. and showed that God floes 1 bless those who are prompt in pay-' ing their tithing. Elder Isaac Hunt said it would be good for us, as a people, to examine ourselves and see if we attend to onr prayers, pay our tithing and at-' at-' tend to all the duties that are re-! quired of us, and so live worthy to receive the blessings that God has in store for his people. Bishop Andrus was pleased to hear the subject of tithing spoken of i and hoped we would all be benefited benefit-ed by it. Referred to his visit to Salt Lake City and to the great celebration. cel-ebration. Said it was a great advertising ad-vertising scheme for all that had anything to sell. Said that in some of the counties north the crops are good while in Beaver and some of s the other counties they were short, of water and the country dry. Althongh we are in this dry, parched country, we should live our religion and God will bless us as he ' has promised. |
