Show We have issued this number of the Footlights in order to enlighten some of our' friends who have anticipated our putting forth a new paper, giving them our reasons for its non-appearance. We had looked for, the return of our printing print-ing material from Mr. Jakeman, ere this, on account of the non-compliance with the terms of his note, which we held against him, but rather than go to Jaw, we decided to submit to arbitration, and as Mr. J. had got a paper started, the referees decided that lie retain the use of our material until the 24th of November, 1S95, consequently we cannot apppear .until after that date, unless, circumstances circumstan-ces transpire which we are not looking for. As to the size of our, new paper, we have not, conclusively decided, but thipk we shall issue a 5 column folio, putting, the subscription price at $1.50 per an-- an-- numn, cash, or its equivalent in other pay. Our advertising rates will be accordingly ac-cordingly low," and will be furnished on application. : '.'.... We shall have a neat title, and intend the paper, shall wield an influence for good wherever it "goes. Therefore, friends, we hope you will give us a hearty welcome on receipt of the first number. Notwithstanding the delay, we trust our friends in the. country will give the aid we need, at the proper: time, as "a word to the wise is sufficient. Respectfully, The Editor. |
